Land O’Lakes wanted a corporate intranet that was more useful and more appealing to employees.

BIO-key International needed online help for WEB-key, a biometric finger-reading security application for the web. Because WEB-key was a new technology, the online help needed to educate users about biometrics as well as help them use the application.

The job of an intranet is to be an information hub that quickly connects employees to the information they need to do their jobs. Wells Fargo’s Technology Information Group (TIG) had an intranet site that suffered from navigation and information organization problems, so their site wasn’t fulfilling its role.

The City of Minneapolis wanted to update its public website to improve residents’ access to information and services. The existing site was visually inviting, but it was not always easy to find information.

The Minnesota Department of Human Services (MN DHS) and Ramsey County faced the daunting task of providing information privacy training for their own widely-dispersed staffs. In addition, they wanted to make the training available to subcontracted private sector providers and other Minnesota counties.

The Minnesota Judicial Branch had an intranet site that was cluttered and difficult to use. The site was underused by employees despite its potential to improve efficiency and speed up access to information.

ISEEK determined that difficult navigation and inconsistent presentation of content were obstacles to users and detracted from the success of its public website. They wanted a site that would help to promote higher education, training, and career exploration, and facilitate the search for employment in Minnesota.

A well-known US retailer was in the process of implementing a new Learning Management System (LMS). During this process, they realized that a large number of their eLearning courses would not integrate with the new LMS.

Thomson Reuters wanted to involve all of its employees in improving the company’s business performance. As part of this initiative, they asked Fredrickson Communications to create a lively introduction to free cash flow that helped employees turn understanding into action.

Park Nicollet Health Services came to Fredrickson with a novel idea for an eLearning course about pandemic flu preparedness. The resulting course won a 2008 Award of Excellence from the Twin Cities Community of the Society for Technical Communication (STC-TC).

The Property Service Department of Hennepin County’s Workplace Safety & Environmental Division wanted their first eLearning course to be a success with County employees. They also wanted to acquire their own course-authoring capabilities. Fredrickson’s partnership-approach to client service helped the Department succeed on both counts.

The usability of the learner’s interface to an LMS can have a major impact on the success of an LMS implementation. We performed usability testing on two large-scale LMS implementations and made improvement recommendations to greatly increase ease-of-use.

Social medial tools can improve communications, knowledge-sharing, and productivity in the workplace, but only if employees feel comfortable using them. We helped a Fortune 100 global manufacturing client show their employees the benefits of social media in the workplace.
