After implementing a customized version of IBM’s Lotus Connections product, a Fortune 100 global manufacturing client asked us to create custom content for five classroom training sessions with high-end users. The objective of the course went well beyond how-to training: our real mission was to engage and inspire participants to be evangelists for a new way of collaborating and sharing knowledge with colleagues around the world. While Lotus Connections provides the platform to support social learning and rapid knowledge flow, our job was to show users how to make this an effective reality. Early reviews are in, and the course has been a success. We believe this is the direction in which knowledge management and corporate learning are going.
