Park Nicollet Health Services had an idea for an online experience that would increase health care professionals’ knowledge and awareness of the rigorous demands that a flu pandemic would place on them. They brought their idea to Fredrickson Communications and asked if we could help them bring it to fruition.
Together, we created the Pandemic Influenza Preparedness at Work and at Home eLearning course — a highly engaging experience that teaches health care professionals how to prepare for and react to a worldwide influenza outbreak. Using audio synchronized with a series of still photos, the course shows learners the story of a health care professional and her family as they experience an influenza pandemic. As the main character deals with the pandemic both at work and at home, learners experience both the workplace and personal implications of an outbreak.
The course won a 2008 Award of Excellence from the Twin Cities Community of the Society for Technical Communication (STC-TC). The STC’s Award of Excellence is given to a course that “consistently meets high standards in all areas.”
